The Federal Government has advised politicians and political parties to refrain from any attempts to disrupt the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The government took the stance in response to increased tensions caused by aggressive politicking in states where elections are being held.
The National Security Advisor (NSA), Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno, made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja during the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting.
According to him, security forces must strive against the prospect of “a horrible or apocalyptic” event in the next few days, before and during the elections
“What we don’t want is for anyone to take the law into their own hands. We will offer the fullest support to all entities participating in this process. “We’re also calling on political parties to summon their constituents,” he said.
