The Coalition of Middle Belt Groups has proclaimed that Alhaji Usman Ododo’s victory as the All Progressives Congress candidate in the Kogi gubernatorial election is endorsed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and other political bodies.
Dr. Omale Ben Amedu, the group’s convener and a former APM Deputy Governorship candidate, disputed reports seeking to discredit the democratic process, stating that the results accurately reflected the desire of the people.
Amedu claimed that, despite obstacles, the election was free, fair, and credible, conceding that no election is perfect but emphasising the minor nature of the faults that occurred.
The outcome of the elections in Kogi State is an expression of the people’s wishes.”
Amedu stated that major parties refrained from legal challenges due to the transparent conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) throughout the electoral process.
The Coalition condemned alleged false claims by the elections petitions tribunal secretary in Lokoja, saying that such assertions lacked merit and accused her of playing to the gallery or following a scripted narrative to discredit the election’s outcome.
The Coalition urged INEC to enhance its facilities and processes, commending the overall conduct of the Kogi election.
He appealed to stakeholders in Kogi to unite in supporting the elected governor towards fostering sustainable growth and development in the state.
