The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, emerged victorious in 12 out of 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ekiti State, defeating his closest rivals, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar. According to results announced at the State Collation Centre in Ado-Ekiti, as of 7 a.m., Mr Tinubu won all of the 12 local governments announced so far, garnering a total of 134,503 votes. Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in second with 61,414 votes, while Mr Obi of the Labour Party got 5,454 votes.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC had earlier stated that the state was indebted to Mr Tinubu and would repay him with massive votes during the election. Ekiti is currently governed by the APC, and Mr Oyebanji’s predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, is also of the APC and a key supporter of Mr Tinubu.
