NSCDC investigates assault of Jos woman by personnel 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Plateau has commenced a probe of an assault on a woman.

A female citizen, Joy Owolabi was beaten up by an officer on Friday in Jos, the capital, during an argument.

The incident happened close to the NSCDC state headquarters at Nanmwa Junction in the Abattoir area of Jos South Local Government Area.

A statement on Monday by DSC Chris Longbit, Public Relations Officer described the incident as barbaric and unfortunate.

The spokesperson announced that the security agency was trying to ascertain the identity of the personnel.

“The Commandant, Alexander Barunde has since directed a full investigation into the matter to ascertain the real identity of the suspect”, he said.

Barunde vowed that the individual involved in the barbaric act would face the music when found.

The commandant apologised to the victim, her family members and promised a thorough investigation and due punishment.
