Senator Anthony Adefuye, who is a third-party republic senator and chieftain of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria is not a Yoruba man by tribe but an Igbo man who is from Anambra state. He made this statement because of the decision of the former president to endorse the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Gregory Peter Obi, in the upcoming election.
Adefuye further elaborated his reason by saying that Obasanjo’s father is from Anambra while his mother is from Yoruba, in his own actual words he said, and I quote, “Have you ever heard of anyone bearing the name ‘Obasanjo’ before except him? The answer is no.”
He also claimed that Obasanjo knows what he is talking about him being from Anambra and that is the reason why he chose Peter Gregory Obi, the former governor of Anambra state instead of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos state and party flag bearer of the APC.
What is your take on what this senator said about Obasanjo being from Anambra state?
