The Obidients Movement made a courtesy call on Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Monday, who greeted them at The People’s House’s New Banquet Hall in Makurdi.
The Governor expressed his great appreciation for the visit and proclaimed that he is a fulfilled man for having stood for a noble cause in the struggle for a new Nigeria in which equality, fairness, and justice are guaranteed to all residents.
He remarked that he has no remorse for the temporary reversal in his own political fortunes, expressing hope that the battle for a better Nigeria continues, and thanking the Obidients for joining forces with the PDP towards success at the polls
the Governorship and State Assembly elections on March 18, 2023.
Governor Ortom expressed pleasure that he had not lost the election, but rather won the war for a free Nigeria, citing the success of the Anti Open Grazing Law, which has resulted in 26 states following Benue’s lead.
He urged voters to back the Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba/Sir John Ngbede ticket in the March 18 election.
The governor also praised Uba, saying he is a man of bravery who has led the 8th Benue State Legislature creditably and fought tirelessly for the success of the Anti-Open Grazing Bill, which he has committed to uphold if re-elected.
In his remarks, Uba expressed gratitude to the Obidients for their show of solidarity with Governor Ortom and the PDP family in Benue in ensuring that he wins on Saturday, March 18th, even as he reiterated that, having stood by the governor throughout his administration, he is equipped with the necessary level of experience to succeed him and do well after him.
Previously, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nweze, leader of the Obidients in Benue, explained that their objective was to pay respect to Governor Ortom, whom he characterized as a wonderful Nigerian who freely stood up for a noble principle and paid the sacrifice price of sacrificing his Senate aspirations.
He emphasized that the governor’s enormous sacrifice will not be in vain, but will serve as the foundation of a new political system in Nigeria based on merit and philosophy.
Dr. Nweze expressed the support of all Obedients in Benue State for the Governorship candidacies of Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba and Sir John Ngbede in the March 18, 2023 elections.
The medical practitioner expressed hope that the alliance of the Obidients and the PDP will propel Engr. Uba into The People’s House, Makurdi, where he will continue the valiant task of defending and developing a bigger Benue State.
