Ogun; FRSC Commander Advices on Safe Road Usage To prevent Accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, emphasizes the crucial need for a change in motorists’ behavior to prevent accidents, particularly on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Mr. Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, highlighted this during an interview with journalists in Ota, Ogun.

Within a span of six days, three separate accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway resulted in the tragic loss of 16 lives, according to reports. In response, the FRSC urges drivers to address issues such as fatigue by taking breaks during long journeys and avoiding night travel. Lowering speed is also recommended to mitigate accidents on the highway.

To enhance safety, the FRSC advises passengers to intervene if a driver behaves recklessly, even suggesting the use of the FRSC toll line to report errant vehicles for appropriate action.

Uga disclosed that the FRSC has conducted awareness campaigns at motor stations to educate drivers about the dangers of driving under the influence of intoxicating substances, aiming to reduce the occurrence of accidents. He additionally cautions motorists on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to exercise caution due to ongoing road rehabilitation efforts.
