Over Fifty Kidnappers, Armed robbers Arrested in Jigawa

In a recent update on the state’s law enforcement efforts, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdullahi, proudly announced the arrest of over 55 individuals believed to be involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

Breaking down the figures during a press briefing within his first 10 days in office, Abdullahi highlighted the diverse nature of the apprehended suspects. The list includes 25 individuals suspected of theft and vandalism, three allegedly linked to kidnapping, 10 accused of armed robbery, and two under suspicion for human trafficking.

The net also caught 10 individuals with connections to motor vehicle and motorcycle theft, along with three allegedly involved in mobile phone thievery.

In a successful crackdown, the police managed to seize three locally crafted firearms, four motor vehicles, six motorcycles, a sum of N3,650,000 in cash, and nine Android phones.

Among the recovered items were 32 cows, five sheep, damaged armor cables and wires, as well as quantities of sesame, millet, and groundnut, collectively valued at N450,000. Additionally, the police confiscated 261 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and 176 tablets of Exol.

Anticipating legal proceedings, Abdullahi confirmed that once the investigations are concluded, the suspects will be taken to court to face the appropriate charges.
