The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state are now swapping accusations regarding the identification of the victims, the number of deaths, and the causes responsible for Thursday’s confrontation in Ibadan.
DRILLOGIST remembers that three individuals were reportedly slain on Thursday evening in the Ile Titun area of Ibadan South East local government area.
Many additional persons were critically hurt as a result of the fight between party supporters.
During the confrontation, other automobiles and motorbikes were also destroyed.
According to DRILLOGIST, the two political parties are running in the state’s gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections, which are set to take place on Saturday.
The PDP stated that all of the victims were members of the party. One of the fatalities was identified as Ward 10 councillor in the Ibadan South East local government district.
In response, the APC stated that all of the casualties were also Party members. It also stated that around seven of its members had been critically hurt.
The PDP in Oyo state issued a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji.
Olatunji stated that the assassination of its ward 10 councilor in Ibadan South East local government by suspected APC members had validated its series of security warnings.
“As a party, we are quite shocked by this terrible turn of events,” Olatunji added. We never anticipated the Oyo APC and its governorship candidate to carry it this far. Even while we suspected Folarin’s desperation, notably his bold display of a sword at one of his rallies, we never imagined his desperation would be worth any human life.
“Unfortunately, we already have three innocent lives cut off from the surface of the planet on because of only one man’s determination to become governor at whatever cost. So, now that they’ve killed three innocent guys, how many more are they planning to kill in order to make Folarin Governor at whatever cost?
“This is politics, you’re expected to sell your ideas to the people and wait for them to decide at the polls, what we are already witnessing in Oyo state with today’s event is worse than just a brazen show of beastly act but a tip of the iceberg of a Satanic agenda that’s coming if the people allow it”.

The APC, on the other hand, blamed the fight on Abass Adigun, the member representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East federal district in the House of Representatives.
The APC, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, urged the state police command to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the heinous crime.
Sadare stated in a statement made available to DRILLOGIST that this will assist to guarantee that those found guilty suffer the full wrath of the law.
