The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee announced on Thursday that it had reversed the recommendation of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom to the National Disciplinary Committee.
Ortom was reported to the disciplinary committee by the party for alleged anti-party activities.
According to a statement issued by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition party, the NWC also lifts the suspensions of five other party members, including Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti State), H.E Ibrahim Shema (Katsina State), Sen. Pius Anyim (Ebonyi State), Prof. Dennis Ityavyar (Benue State), and Dr. Aslam Aliyu. (Zamfara State)
According to him, the decision did not preclude the NWC from taking disciplinary action against any member of the Party at any moment in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution. (as amended in 2017).
According to the statement, the NWC charged all leaders, critical stakeholders, and throngs of Party members across the nation to be led by the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), as well as the new spirit and necessity of reconciliation, unity, and harmony in the Party at this critical juncture.
The party urged members to stay focused as they continued to take all required steps to reclaim the stolen mandate freely given to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by Nigerians.
The development comes just days after a Makurdi High Court barred Iyorchia Ayu from posing as the party’s National Chairman.
