Peter Okwoche, The Broadcaster Who Interviewed Tinubu Reacts After Receiving Insults From Nigerians

Peter Ogbu Okwoche, a well known international broadcaster from Nigeria, who is also a storyteller at BBC has reacted to the verbal abuses he has been receiving from Nigerians following the interview he conducted for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

The interview with Tinubu was conducted for BBC News Africa. The video was shared on social media by BBC News Africa.

After watching the video, many Nigerians began to throw abuses on Peter Okwoche. However, while reacting to the abuses he has received so far following the interview, Peter Okwoche took to twitter to say that it is amazing the amount of insults he is receiving online following the interview.

According to him, many of those who are reacting negatively to the interview have not even watched the interview. He added that he is a big man with broad shoulders, therefore, the jokes are on his critics.

Reacting to Peter Okwoche’s reaction, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi blamed it on the supporters of Peter Obi, saying that it is their nature. He also urged him to read Governor Charles Soludo’s statement against Peter Obi.

From the video shared by BBC News Africa, Tinubu could be seen answering the questions regarding how his plans for Nigeria should he win the forthcoming presidential election.

When asked to explain how things are going with his presidential campaign, he said that things are moving very smoothly, adding that he is the front runner in the election, and that is why he is getting many arrows. He also said that he is very confident that the election will be free and fair.

Speaking on his priorities should he become the president of Nigeria come 2023, he noted that his priorities are security and economic recovery to accelerated development and to get Nigerians employed and pull down inflation.

While talking about how he is going to tackle insecurity, he noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has degraded, but not completely eliminated ISWAP, promising to use lethal weapons to wipe out the remaining ones.

He also added that he will do mass recruitment of people into the volunteer army to further flush out the remaining criminals and terrorists.

While explaining what he will do different from Buhari, even though they are from the same political party, Tinubu said that he is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and not Buhari. He noted that he governed Lagos which he said is a modern state that can stand on its own as a country.

He also recounted his achievements as Governor of Lagos State, adding that Buhari has done his best, but he won’t run away from him.

While answering questions regarding the source of his income, Tinubu asked to know if Nigerians are enemies of wealth. According to him, if they are not enemies of wealth, then investments do yield. He mentioned some of his sources of income, saying that he is one of the richest men in America and in the world.
