Yobe State Police Command says its operatives have arrested a total number of 680 suspects for various offences across the State in the last eight months.
Out of that number, 315 have been convicted.
Garba Haruna, the State Commissioner of Police disclosed this while briefing the Inspector General of Police Usman Baba Alkali at an event marking the official commissioning of a newly constructed Damaturu Police Area Command, as well as a block of accommodation recently.
The CP also told the visiting IGP that of the 680 arrested suspects, 165 of them are standing trial at various courts.
Within this period, the Commissioner also disclosed that four AK-47 rifles, nine double-barrel guns, 75 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and 10 vehicles were recovered by operatives of the Command.
According to him, despite manpower and logistics deficit in the command, the successes were recorded in the fight against crime through intelligence-led policing and community partnership.
“At this juncture, I wish to assure our dynamic and pragmatic IGP that officers and men of Yobe State Command will not let you down.
“We remain resolute, committed and dedicated to our statutory and constitutional duties of maintaining law and order, crime prevention, public safety and security in the state”, he assured.
Haruna also assured the Inspector General of Police that the structures commissioned would be put into proper use.
