The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the arrest of five suspects linked to the frequent robbery attacks on students at Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Remo North Local Government Area. The police responded to a distress call reporting armed robbers in the community on December 2. Subsequently, they tracked and recovered a stolen Lexus car in Abeokuta, the state capital, which led to the apprehension of some gang members. Another Lexus car, taken by the same gang in Ajuwon, was also recovered.

The arrests were made through intelligence, and they included members of different gangs involved in phone robberies at gunpoint. The recent attack resulted in the tragic death of a student, with nine others sustaining gunshot injuries.
