Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has called Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s G-5 group ineffective in the just completed presidential election.
Melaye stated that the Wike-led gang cannot take credit for the defeat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Remember that following the conclusion of the Presidential primary in May 2022, Wike, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Oyo State all withdrew their national support from the PDP.
Wike, who had promised to back whomever won the primary election, broke his word and began working against Atiku and the APC
the PDP in both speech and deeds, alongside four other governors making up the G5.
Nevertheless, none of the G5 governors were elected to represent their Senatorial Districts in the ninth National Assembly, whereas Makinde is now fighting for a second term.
Nevertheless, Melaye stated that Wike and his supporters were unable to get a senate seat and hence cannot take credit for Atiku’s defeat.
Melaye said in a tweet that Wike only aided the All Progressives Congress, APC, through thuggery.
“The G5 has no importance in the just concluded presidential election,” he stated. The G5, who were unable to deliver on their senate bid, cannot take credit for Atiku’s defeat. Outside of the thuggery and pressure of INEC personnel, even Wike had little to say.
