Qatar 2022: Rio Ferdinand tells Argentina how Mbappe is part of weakness ahead of final

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has said France are vulnerable down the left due to the attacking tendencies of Kylian Mbappe and Theo Hernandez.

The defending champions beat Morocco 2-0 to book their spot against Argentina in Sunday’s World Cup final.

Hernandez and substitute Randal Kolo Muani scored in either half for Les Bleus.

Ferdinand thinks Argentina can win their first World Cup since 1986 if they target France’s “weakness”.

“If you look at France’s weakness, and there aren’t many of them, but their left side is an area of the pitch I thought opponents have been targeting.

“You look at it, a third of the chances they have conceded have come from that side of the pitch.

“Against Denmark, they immediately go for that side of the pitch. One of the things I looked at and thought maybe that could be the reason is you got Mbappe on that side of the pitch, maybe that gives him licence to stay higher up the pitch,” Ferdinand told BBC Sport.
