Ritualist denies Murder of Victims, says he only Purchased Their Legs

Ifasoji Ayangbesan, a suspected ritualist who was recently detained by the police for his alleged participation in the murder of Oyindamola Adeyemi, 26, in Ogun State, has said that he merely paid N20,000 for the victim’s legs.

Ayangbesan, 35, had been on the run since his other conspirators were apprehended in January for killing the woman and selling her body parts to money ritualists.

Ayangbesan claimed he was not involved in the victim’s murder when he was paraded by the police in Abeokuta on Wednesday. The inhabitant of Ijebu-Ode claims to be a herbalist and not a practitioner of money rituals.

He claims to have obtained the legs from his friend Lukman, who he claims informed him that he had unearthed and separated the body parts from a dead person in a cemetery.”I did, in fact, purchase two brand-new human legs, but I was not a part of the victim’s murder,” he stated.

“My buddy Lukman came up to me and said he had a set of legs he was looking to sell. I argued with him that I didn’t require them, but he persuaded me to accept his suggestion that I use them in a ceremony to enhance my life.”

“He suggested I contact one of his friends, Oye, who is better known in Isiwo as Egbeji, when I explained that as a traditionalist, I had not been taught how to do money-making rituals.”

“After hearing what his friend had to say, I burned the legs and stored them, intending to finish the ceremony once I got back from Ajah.”

“But while I was in Ajah, my daughter called to tell me that police had come looking for me. So that I wouldn’t be caught with any proof, I subsequently crept in and carried the burned legs away,” he claimed.

Ayangbesan denied offering the N1 million to bribe the police when questioned about it. He said that a lawyer had instructed him to give N10 million to guarantee his release but that he had only been able to get N1 million.

He claimed that when he went to provide the money to the attorney, he was detained.
