Former Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus, has claimed that other football players will never reach the level of Ballon d’Or winners, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, because they lacked passion and pleasure for the game.
According to Jesus, football is a passion and pleasure for both Ronaldo and Messi.
The Portuguese gaffer spoke while discussing different topics with the media during the Super Lig hiatus.
Jesus said, “It’s true that Ronaldo is no longer the same and Messi is no longer the same, but those close to being near the top of the world are still a long way from either of these two.
“There are other players who could reach the top, but they’ll never reach it because they’ve other pleasures besides the pleasure of playing football. These two [Messi and Ronaldo] always put football ahead of their individual pleasures.
“For Ronaldo and Messi, football is passion and pleasure.”
Messi and Ronaldo have won 12 Ballon d’Or awards between them in the past 15 years.
