Chelsea have held talks with Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as Graham Potter is yet to decide on a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues sacked Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning and they moved quickly for Brighton boss Potter, with the Seagulls giving the former Swansea boss permission to speak to Chelsea.
Potter is interested in joining the club but he is understandably wary of making the move after seeing how Tuchel was treated.
The Blues spent close to £300m in the summer transfer window but Tuchel was dismissed less than a week after the window closed, despite being given unprecedented levels of influence over the club’s business.
Potter has waited patiently for his chance at a top job and though talks have progressed rapidly in the last 24 hours, he’s yet to make a decision on the move.
Chelsea have therefore drawn up contingency plans and SkySports say that Sporting boss Amorim has held talks with Boehly over a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Portuguese coach has attracted attention across Europe for the attacking football that he has brought to the green half of Lisbon.
The 37-year-old guided the club to the league title in 2021 and he’s maintained an impressive 71% win percentage during his two years in the capital.
