Accord’s national leadership has established a caretaker committee to oversee the political party’s operations in Oyo State ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections.
On Sunday, the caretaker committee was inaugurated in Ibadan, the state capital.
The inauguration comes just a few days after the party’s state executive council was disbanded.
The national leadership of the party disbanded the executive council following the suspension of the former state chairman of the party, Kolade Ojo, and the secretary, only hours after they proclaimed their support for Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to DRILLOGIST, the party’s national leadership established a caretaker committee to replace the suspended executive members.
The inauguration was held on Sunday in Ibadan by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, and the party’s National Vice Chairman, South West, Alhaji Dokun Babarinde.
Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the party’s governorship candidate, attended the ceremony.
Mr. Bashiru Ayobami, Hon Fatai Salawu, Ms Bimpe Martins, and Hon Ayodele Oyajide are among the members of the caretaker committee, which is led by Alhaji Isiaka Salami.
The committee was established by the national legal adviser, who entrusted them with working for the prosperity of the party.
“I want to thank everyone, and I want everyone to know that Accord is one,” he stated. I am not here alone; I am here on the authority of the party’s National Working Committee and its National Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Nalado.
“The previous chairman and secretary’s actions are abhorrent. It can’t go on. We wholeheartedly support our candidates.
“Oyo State is one of the Accord’s foundations. We cannot allow anyone to undermine Oyo State’s foundations. We will form a committee that will work until we have a congress. They are capable of winning the election.
“We have a candidate who has ability to win the election. The goal is to win the election. We refuse to trade with those that wish to utilize Accord. What they did was anti-party. We will penalize them in accordance with the Accord Constitution. Adelabu has our support. In Oyo State, he is our gubernatorial candidate.”
