So Sad, Police Officer Dies in Car Accident in Kebbi

Tragedy struck on Sunday as a Kebbi State Police Command officer lost his life in a lone car crash along the Koko/Jega road. The incident involved a police Toyota Land Cruiser jeep, with registration number 5465D, carrying nine officers en route to a crime scene at Kendawa village, Dutsinmari, under Koko/Besse local government area.

SP Nafiu Abubakar, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed that the fatal accident occurred when the police vehicle experienced a burst tire, leading to multiple somersaults. Inspector Said Idiya lost his life in the crash, while eight other officers sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Kebbi Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi.

Abubakar stated, “The late inspector has been buried according to Islamic rites, while the injured officers are still in the hospital.” The unfortunate incident highlights the risks law enforcement officers face even in the course of responding to their duties.
