A tanker exploded in Ogun State on Sunday killing one person and injuring another.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash occurred at about 10:30 am on the Sagamu/Ijebu-Ode expressway.
Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, said the accident involved the tanker and two men.
“The crash involved a tanker with no registration number on it. Two persons were involved, both male adults.
“One person was injured and the second person killed,” she said.
According to Okpe, the injured victim had been taken away by “a good Samaritan” before the arrival of FRSC operatives.
“The suspected cause of the lone crash was mechanical deficiency (electrical fault) which resulted in a fire outbreak,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, Umar Ahmed, sympathized with the families of the accident victims, while advising motorists to always carry out vehicle routine checks for safety purposes.
