A Finance and Debt Verification Committee has been established by the next governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, to look into the Tambuwal administration’s finances.
The committee, led by the Deputy Governor-elect, Mohammed Idris Gobir, was established to track down all loans the Tambuwal administration has obtained since taking office and determine if the funds were used for the intended purpose.
The 20-member group was one of the subcommittees that was officially launched on Wednesday by Ambassador Abubakar Sani, Makaman Sokoto, the chairman of the APC Transition group.
According to Drillogist , several state lawmakers have claimed that the Tambuwal administration obtained loans for the state totaling N86 billion.
The incoming governor was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which is the main opposition party to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
