UCL: ‘Fragile minds’ – Rio Ferdinand makes honest confession about Liverpool after 7-1 win

Manchester United’s former defender, Rio Ferdinand, has said that he fears for the ‘fragile minds’ in Liverpool’s squad despite their 7-1 thrashing of Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Reds ran riot against the Scottish side, scoring six times in the second half, including the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history from Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp’s side fell to the ninth position in the Premier League table after their defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

But the romp in Scotland will boost morale, and former England defender Ferdinand still thinks there will be a weakness in the Reds’ confidence.

Liverpool face Manchester City in the Premier League at the weekend, and Ferdinand says that Jurgen Klopp will be worried about how they start games.

“I’m sure the players will be going into this huge game against Man City bouncing with confidence, but still there will be fragile minds as well when things maybe don’t go their way,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“This team are accustomed to going one goal behind in games, it’s happening far too often

“That’s one of the things that will be irking the manager. He’ll be thinking, ‘Why is this? Why can’t we start the game properly? Why are we giving teams a goal start at the moment?’”

Despite their poor run of form, former Liverpool striker, Emile Heskey had maintained that the Reds would finish in the Premier League top four this season alongside Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
