Popular skit maker Carter Efe, has revealed that he recorded ‘Machala’ to be celebrated and gain national recognition.
He made this known during an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels Television’s Rubbin Minds, while speaking on his switch from comedy to music.
Carter, born, Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, also confessed that he did not meet Wizkid in Ghana as suggested by his lyrics in the hit song.
Speaking on why he included another part of the lyrics, where he talked about dancing Makosa, the artiste said he used to post good dance videos of himself on Instagram and social media users loved it.
The skit maker said that when he released Machala, he wanted to be appreciated as someone who sang a song for Wizkid, but he did not know that it will blow up like it did.
He said that he feels big when he meets people who react excitedly because of the fact that they know he is the singer of Machala.
According to him, when he was just focusing on skit making people used to recognise him on the streets but now they go the extra mile and hug him in public.
On whether he contacted Big Wiz after dropping the track, Carter said he always thanks Starboy but the Afrobeats star has never replied any of his messages.
He, however, said that he knows the type of person Wizzy is, so he is not expecting the ‘Joro’ crooner to respond or acknowledge him as he just did everything out of love.
The artiste said he always goes to Wizkid’s DM on Instagram and expresses thanks to him for frequently even though he knows he won’t reply.
He also said that he has started getting booked for shows and he is now a fulltime musician because the money he is making from music is making him feel good.
Carter also revealed that he is thinking of releasing an EP and is already working with other artistes. He said that he has made a song with singer, Ceeza Milli.
