Over 100 persons, including voters, party agents, politicians and supporters are at the secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State over the non conduct of elections in major parts of the council. The council boss, Dr. Michael Tidi and agents of parties have just concluded a meeting with the electoral officer, Kingsley Ogboe, over how to go about the exercise in areas where elections were not conducted.
Ogboe is yet to give audience to the press. However, sorting and distribution of materials is ongoing at the INEC office. The Nation gathered that the unavailability of result sheets for some units, absence of Supervisory Polling Officers (SPOs) and vehicles to convey sorted materials to the affected polling units are posing challenges to the workers. When approached by some adhoc staff on how to proceed to the polling units, an official seen manning the door of the EO said staff are only to return to units with complete or uncompromised result sheets. Some adhoc staff were heard reporting that some of the SPOs have refused to go back to the field.
It was further gathered that materials got to the polling centres late yesterday because of an alleged directive by the Electoral Officer.
