Bashir, the son of Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has indicated that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is saving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Bashir revealed that Wike might be the anointed savior who restores the PDP’s lost grandeur.
Wike has been at odds with the PDP leadership since losing the party’s presidential nomination.
Wike has refused to support the PDP’s flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, after his defeat in the primaries.
Wike and fellow G-5 governors also requested that PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu quit.
The governors claimed Ayu should retire and enable a southerner to run the party.
They stated that the North cannot provide a presidential candidate for the PDP.
Wike had distanced himself from Atiku during the recently ended presidential election as a result of the repercussions.
“Wike might turn out to be the anointed savior who would restore the PDP’s lost grandeur,” Bashir tweeted.
“He stuck by his ideas & for the sake of the health of our democracy, the opposition should be forceful. I really wish him and his patriots the best.”
