Dada Oluwaseyi, the presiding judge of a customary court sitting in Jikwoyi, Abuja, warned one Mrs. Murikat Nura on Friday to submit to her husband. When the case was brought up in court, the judge offered the counsel.
The wife, Murikat, was accused by the husband, Mr. Matthew Nura, of always fighting and treating him disrespectfully.
“You don’t get married to a man you can’t obey. You are required to submit to him because you married him. This is the exact reason I usually tell couples planning a wedding to be certain before saying “I do.”
“Don’t think that you can choose not to participate. The holy text commands women to submit to their husbands, the judge added. Before making any decisions, Oluwaseyi encouraged the couple to consider the children that resulted from their marriage.”
“For the sake of those small kids, please put your ego, pride, and judgmental attitude aside. Don’t let them grow up in a broken house.”
“Reason beyond the body; marriages failed because we used the flesh to make our decisions. I want you both to get along for the sake of these tiny kids,” the judge continued.
Oluwaseyi consequently postponed the subject to July 27 in order to receive a report on the resolution.
