Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi has become a subject of ridicule online hours after his colleague, Baba Ijesha was sentenced.
Kemi Filani news reported earlier that after over one year of his arrest and prosecution, an Ikeja Special Offences Court had convicted the embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, alias Baba Ijesha, of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a two-hour judgement on Thursday, convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
Taiwo, however, discharged and acquitted him of counts one and count six, which were: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.
He was thereby sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
Taking to social media, Nigerians dragged Yomi Fabiyi for supporting a rapist.

In 2021 Yomi Fabiyi had reacted to the controversies trailing the arrest of his colleague Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, who was caught raping a fourteen-year-old girl.
In a lengthy post shared on his Instagram page, the actor said an association is investigating the matter to get the true picture of the event and act accordingly.
Yomi Fabiyi said many Nollywood stars are also careful about commenting on the issue, especially as the police statement mentioned CCTV footage which yet to be made public.
According to Yomi, who referred to how Baba Suwe was hurriedly condemned for having drugs in his possession and later vindicated, it will be malicious for any Nollywood star to conclude the case.
