Antony has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a ‘giant’ of the game and says it’s an ‘honour’ to play alongside the Manchester United forward.
The 21-year-old announced himself to United supporters across the globe with a goal on his full debut for the club during a 3-1 win against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Brazilian was a surprise starter for the Red Devils, having trained just twice with his new team-mates since completing a £84million move to Old Trafford.
Anthony Elanga lost his starting spot for Antony but it was another huge call from Erik ten Hag to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench that made the headlines.
Ronaldo eventually entered the fray when he replaced Antony on the hour mark and the Portugal captain gave United’s new boy a warm reception as he made his way to the touchline.
While the moment is unlikely to top the feeling of scoring on his debut, coming off for Ronaldo was yet another spectacular moment on an unforgettable day for the Brazilian.
And he couldn’t hide his delight on social media afterwards, calling Ronaldo a ‘giant’ of the game.
‘You are a giant,’ wrote Antony.
‘What an honour Cristiano Ronaldo to play by your side.’
